Norway consists of the western and northern part of the Scandinavian peninsula, in addition to the archipelago Svalbard and the island Jan Mayen. Norway borders on Sweden, Finland, and Russia to the east and to the Norwegian Sea and Artic Ocean to the west. The Barents Sea lies to the north and the North Sea lies to the south. The total area of Norway is 386,958 square kilometres, including Svalbard and Jan Mayen. Norway is a long country, stretching 1 752 km between the most southern and northern points. The coastline is 2 650 km or ten times longer if all the fjord arms are included.
Norway's unique nature, including the daylight summer nights and the snow filled winters, makes Norway a special country. In Northern Norway during the summer one may experience the midnight sun; the sun is visible for a continuous 24 hours. During the winter, one may see the special phenomenon called northern polar lights, or Aurora Borealis, flaming over the sky in varying intensities and forms. In Norway there is an endless variety of attractions and activities, from untouched plains in the north to fjords, salmon
fishing and exiting cities and festivals in the south. Norway is the perfect starting point for nature based experiences summer
