Balestrand Hostel is placed in the centre of Balestrand with excellent views over the Sognefjord. All bedrooms include recentely renovated bathrooms, most of them with balcony. There is also a gallery in the basement.
Tourism in Balestrand builds upon long traditions. Good opportunities for fishing and mountain hiking and the hostel is a good starting point for excursions to Jostedalsbreen and other attractions in the area. Balestrand has several art galleries and historical sights. The hostel has recently built an activity centre by the fjord. Aquariums, models and a slide show illustrate life in the Sognefjord. There are folk music and outdoor activities, e.g. barbeque and fishing.
