The river Sjoa is famous for its excellent white water rafting conditions. Heidal Rafting is based at the hostel, and the
national centre for river sports is located 1 km away. Good conditions for fishing in the area. Heidal is a "living museum"
with Norway´s largest collection of protected buildings. The main building at the hostel was built in 1747. The hostel has
apartments with shower/WC.
