We offer you a special snowmobile safari to see the northern light - Aurora Borealis. This safari is especially created for
guests of Hurtigruten arriving in Kjøllefjord, but the trip will also be offered for all guests at Mehamn Hostel.
Upon arrival at Kjøllefjord harbour, the guide welcomes you at the pier, we offer you warm snowmobile clothing, we board the
bus and go out "hunting the light". Within the time the Hurtigruten boat sails to Mehamn, we guide you through the large snowcovered
planes of the Nordkyn peninsula, with absolute no vegetation - "The white desert"
| Before starting the snowmobiles we learn you all about safety and driving a snowmobile. After this short lesson you will be
able to drive your own snowmobile and feel the freedom feeling the pleasure of driving alone gives you.
We will stop several times during the safari to feel the silence and watch the polar night. On these stops in total darknes
the northern light appears visible quite often. Here you have the best chance of experiencing this true wonder of the world
- The northern light! We continue the drive the way down to Mehamn fishing village. When Hurtigruten arrives in Mehamn, which
is the next stop after Kjøllefjord, you will be already at the harbour waiting for the boat to pick you up. Or, spend the
night at Mehamn Hostel.
